Meet "old blue"

Well this Blog is suppose to be about trucks and truck projects so lets start with "old blue".  A 1980 GMC 3/4pick up that I found just down the road from my house.  Not my first truck but my first in about 12 years.  Since I got married anyway.  It was brown had a 3 on the floor, 350 ci motor and was in rough shape.  Didn't pay much for it and it wasn't worth much.  I restored it with the help of my grade 9 Auto students.  It was a blast to work on with the kids.  It was painted Blue so the name old blue was quickly adopted.

About 4 years later the tires and rims were replaced and I decided to freshen up old blues paint and body.

It didn't take to much to get it looking good again.  At this time my wife bought a new 2005 Dodge Ram with the Daytona package.  Nice truck

One nice truck until 11 months later when she was struck by a tree and written off.

Of course Old Blue was sold to one of my students and his Dad.
She went to a good home, now with the Daytona squished and Old Blue sold, I was truck less and without a project, or was I?

This week

This week the kids continued to work on the Library book shelf project.  They have designed and build 8 book shelves that won't fall over like the old ones.  They are close to being ready for stain.  Lots of requirements like having a face out section and a spine out section.  Made from Oak.

Buckies

Just what we want a new logo, as Rockin Rod said "They dropped the words "Starbucks Coffee" , but they kept the mermaid. Mermaids are weird. Not enough woman to love -- not enough fish to fry"

Australia

The floods in Australia are growing in some area's like my friend Judi-Ann's Queensland town.  I didn't realize how large an area they cover.
Interesting story: http://edition.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/asiapcf/01/08/australia.floods/?hpt=T2

(post a comment)

Life at the school goes on.  The main student who wanted to build the chairs has been away all week at the Jr. Hockey championships.  Nice eh! So little progress on them.

Managed to get one of the Library tables refinished and returned to the Library.

Pepper who I will introduce a bit later got a new rear!  (I'll explain in a couple of days when I get some pic's of it)

Hockey Stick Chairs

We have been making the Muskoka Hockey Stick chairs for about 5 years and on Monday we will start 4 more.  Once a student shows interest and starts collecting some sticks on his own I help out with some from my good friend Greg.  He gets them from the local arena. It takes about 30 sticks and 3 goalie sticks.  If you want the plans just email me.

These make great gifts.  They sell for about $400.00 in a store in Port Perry.

I'll post some works in progress during the week.
