So here we go again. Not sure if it is a 1971 or 1972 with a 71 engine. It is the second fasted sled in 71/72. For now we are just getting it running and a full restore in the future. This is a classic sled that I can't wait to restore.
Follow the project by project life of Mike Turner, Technology teacher with the Toronto District School Board. I will share some cool projects here.

New Restoration 1996
Time for a new restoration. Since I sold my 1971 truck I have decided it was time for a new vehicle project. My 1996 GMC was just begging for a clean up. First up was to seek a good donor truck with a good box. Found a 95 and I was off and running. I have the help of the kids at school to remove the box and put in on my trailer. I have it in my garage.
In this photo you can see there was some hidden rust around the wheel well, both sides.

I didn't think I would need to weld metal on this but was wrong. That wheel well trim holds the water and produces rust. It won't be going back on.
All fixed up.
Next was the underside of the bed. The donor bed was oiled and well kept Just took a wire wheel to it and she is ready for bed liner.
I hope to have the bed ready for paint by Thanksgiving.
For final colour and SS strips it will look like this only silver stripes not white.
